Queen West is a non-profit corporation incorporated under the Ontario Corporations Act and a registered charity with the Canada Revenue Agency.

The Bylaw is a legal document which forms part of the governing documents of an organization, and include rules about the organization’s operation. Bylaws often provide the methods for the election of directors, the appointment of officers and the description of their duties, the creation of committees, the conduct of meeting etc. In order to amend by-laws of an Ontario not for profit corporation approval of the directors and members is required. While for a commercial business the owners are its shareholders, the ownership of a non-profit corporation belongs to the public as represented by the nonprofit organization’s Board of Directors.
