AIDS testHIV testing, support and education is an important part of the services we provide in our harm reduction services. Anonymous HIV testing is a free service; a health card is not needed. You can choose between the Standard HIV Antibody Test and the Rapid HIV Antibody Test. Please indicate which test you are seeking when booking an appointment. You do not need to be a registered client with the Health Centre in order to book an appointment for testing.

As the testing is anonymous, you do not need to provide us with your real or full name. Even with positive results Anonymous HIV Testing uses a number on your lab slip — NOT your name. We do require a telephone number in case we need to contact you if the HIV Testing Clinic is cancelled the day of your appointment. Only you will ever know your test result or that you were tested. Test results are available within minutes of doing this test.

HIV testing is available on a weekly basis:
Tuesday 2:30 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Friday 9:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

Types of testing and services we provide:

  • Rapid HIV Antibody Test — we prick your finger for a drop of blood and you receive your result in minutes.
  • Standard HIV Antibody Test — we take a sample of blood from your vein and send it to a lab for results. We get the result back from the lab about 2 weeks later. You must return to the clinic to get your result.
  • We offer pre & post-test counselling, as well as free safer sex materials (condoms & lube), harm reduction materials (needles, safer crack use supplies, etc.) and information.
  • Referrals to clinical, counselling and testing for Hep C, Syphilis and other STI’s. (Note these are not anonymous services)
